Women Cosmetic Surgery

Cosmetic Surgery for Women

When dealing with Cosmetic Surgery for women, it is most important to understand that the rapport between the height, dimensions of breast and hips in a woman are closely related and that any procedure, however minimal, in any one of these areas can enhance the whole, bringing it closer to current standards of beauty.

Remodelling the breast consists in creating an ideal volume based on the woman’s physical characteristics. In recent years, the most popular intervention has been breast enlargement; it has become a trend but also because this type of surgery has become increasingly safe due to advances in surgical techniques.

It is now possible to fit a patient with a tailor-made solutions based on the type of implant, its volume and shape.

The results are immediate and it is no longer necessary to wear bulky bandages but simply a support bra.

Body-sculpting instead, (by this we mean reshaping body fat and, when necessary, reinjecting it into the body and the use of micro-cannula and laser) is by far the most innovative method used today to reshape the body.

This is the most frequently-used surgical procedure of all cosmetic surgeries and an increasing number of women use this procedure in various stages of life. This procedure, carried out in proper conditions, is not dangerous and the results are surprising.

Advanced knowledge of the fatty layer and of the skin itself allow the use of micro-cannula of millimetric caliber and laser technology that also acts on the outer skin layer, restoring the proper elasticity. The skin returns to normal after only 48 hours and patients can return to work, wearing only an elastic stocking for three weeks.

Cosmetic Surgery for Teenagers

Biologically speaking, tissue and organs continue to grow until the age of 17/18 for girls and 20/21 for boys. However, younger children can be treated with corrective surgery for

problems like prominent ears to avoid the psychological problems that this condition might cause. The nose instead, if thought to be out of proportion with the rest of the face, can be treated with surgery when patients are 17-18 years old for girls and 20-21 years old for boys. Liposuction in adolescents and young people should be approached with special care.

In the case of endocrine exophthalmos or ptosis in younger patients, as soon as the patient is aged 18 years it is possible to correct the swelling on the lower eyelid with a simple procedure that leaves no scarring.

Rhinoplasty

Perhaps the most popular, and one of the most frequently performed, of all cosmetic surgical procedures, it is the procedure that most markedly changes the appearance of the patient’s face.

A photographic study made on the first visit allows the surgeon and the patient to verify exsisting defects and to plan the remodelling based on the patient’s desires and the surgeon’s technical possibilities. The use of state-of-the-art techniques allows the patient to obtain the desired results without a long post-operative recovery period.

The procedure consists of remodelling the bone and cartilage structure of the nose by entering though the nostrils and making small corrections until the desired effect is reached.

Whenever there is a traumatic deviation of the nasal piramid, with a subsequent reduction of breathing capability, it becomes necessary to treat the cartilage of the septum and to set it in a central position. This procedure is usually done with a general anaesthesia as an outpatient surgery; or with local anaesthesia, if the defect is merely in the cartilage on the tip of the nose and if the procedure is programmed to last less than an hour.

The entire procedure is resolved in the course of a day and often patients do not need to stay the night in clinic. Despite what one might immagine, it is not a painful procedure. The medication and the tampons can be removed the following day, while the nose is set in a small cast for approximately 10 days to block movement of the treated area. Even if the end result is immediately visible, the nose continues to shrink in size for a few months after the procedure until it reaches its ideal size, from six months to one year later.

Breast Enhancement

This tecnique enhances the breast by enlarging its dimensions with the insertion of breast implants. New techniques and perfected implants have made the aesthetic results of this surgery safer and more lasting. It is possible to obtain customized results in terms of form and volume, adapting the implants to the patient’s desires. The insertion of the implants is carried out through small incisions in the skin and positioned in different places  (inframammary fold, the lower rim of the nipple and the armpit) that allow the scars to be hidden in exsisting spaces between tissue of various types without producing new scars.

The outcome of additive mastoplasty is visible immediately after the operation and, except for the first two days, it’s only necessary to wear a support bra for the 20 days of the recovery period.

Within a month, the breasts return to their normal state and natural softness and the swelling lasts only a few days. Only in rare cases  is it necessary to massage the breasts to attain a natural softness in the implants.

Apart from the normal precautions common to any surgery*, one must consider the possibility of scarring in each patient’s case that could influence the final outcome of the procedure. At times, a fibrous tissue forms around the implant and reduces the natural effect, stiffening the implant in the surrounding tissue.

*precautions for infections, for example, for patients with diabetes or cardiovascular disease current or past.

Rejuvenation Surgery

The aging process begins at 37 leaving signs on face and body. Minimally invasive procedures can be done to correct these alterations quickly with local anaesthesia and without hospital stay.

Blepharoplasty, whether executed with traditional methods or with a trans-conjuntival operation (i.e. operating from within) using only local anaethesia can give a refreshed look to the eye area by eliminating pouches and wrinkles.

The face, treated with small incisions and local anaesthesia, can be rejuvenated by removing excess skin and repositioning the deep parte of the muscle mass for a firm, younger look.

The neck. With small incisions behind the ears, it is possible to tighten the skin of the neck, eliminating the “double chin” and wrinkles on the neck, using only local anaesthesia.

The forehead can be tightened with endosopic surgery; with small incisions the problem of vertical and horizontal creases can be eliminated.

The breast: the skin of the breast is thin and very delicate and tends to loosen with age. Usually, the (mammary) glands tend to reduce in size after childbirth. This is treated by repositioning the tissue and the glands as high as possible without any incision except a small one around the nipple.

For some patients who have undergone substantial weight-loss, the skin on the body can loose elasticity. In some cases it’s possible with Laser technique to intervene on the buttocks, arms, inner thighs and knees to restore firmness and to tighten loose skin.

Laser Lipolysis

Laser lipolysis is a relatively new technique, claimed to be as effective as liposuction, and as gentle treatment without risk to the vascular system or damage to the skin, without scars or depressions. This is a state-of-the-art laser technique specific for treating fatty deposits on thighs, buttocks, hips and ankles. It is very rapid.

Generally only a few minutes of photonic radiation are necessary to dissolve a fat deposit. Technically speaking, a small sterile tube the size of a needle is inserted directly into the fatty deposit. Under the effect of the laser the fat cells are destroyed.

The laser lipolysis is less traumatic than traditional liposuction in that it does not produce mechanical friction inside the fat deposit which occurs with a classic liposuction procedure. There is no swelling and no pain after the procedure. It is particularly reccommended on well-defined, compact areas such as le coulotte de cheval or fat pads on hips.

Blepharoplasty

The first signs of age are visible in the expression of the eyes and at times the aging effect on the eyelids appears precociously. The most evident signs are the sagging skin of the eyelids and the orbicularis oris muscle and the swelling of fat around the eyes, that forms what is commonly called “bags”, giving the eyes a sad expression.

The blepharoplasty, or the correction of the above defects, is by far the most rejuvenating procedure that can be performed. The uncomplicated procedure and the minimal discomfort involved, along with a relatively short recovery period, have made this one of the most popular cosmetic procedures. The objective is to reposition the tissue of the eyelids anchoring that tissue to the jawbone and to reduce the skin and fat in excess.

To access the fat deposits, small incisions are made in areas where they are scarcely visible. The stitches must remain in place for 3 to 5 days.

Used in conjunction, another innovative technique that heightens the end-result is the laser which is used for resurfacing, i.e. for the removal of tiny wrinkles which otherwise could not have been removed with traditional methods. Therefore the procedure, coupled with laser resurfacing, gives a rejuvenating lift to the eye area of the face.

Should a young person need a procedure to reduce fat under the eyes, the procedure is even less complex. The fat can be eliminated even without visible cuts on the lids. Procedures involving the eyelids are relatively brief and can be performed in Day Hospital with local anaesthesia.

Lip Remodelling

The upper lip is plumped out by using a bio-compatible filler inserted into it; this produces an effect that is visible for several months, depending on which substance is used.

The treatment is done without anaethesia (except for highly sensitive patients) and does not involve  swelling or discomfort.

Another surgical method is used to plump up the upper and lower lip, in Day hospital and without scarring, using the patient’s own fat.

Lipofilling

Lipofilling is ‘filling out’ wrinkles with the patient’s own fat. It is not a new technique but its execution with state-o-the-art cannulae allows us to infiltrate tissue with centrifuged fat, that will not form lumps and that will be absorbed quickly. The injected fat can last a year or more depending where it is injected. Fatty cells can also be used as filler to augment the buttocks or the breasts.

Endoscopic Lifting

Endoscopic Lifting is a technique that allows facial tissue to be treated through very small apertures and, with the help of the endoscope, to reposition tissue that has become slack over time. The difference between endoscopic lifting and traditional techniques is the reduction of the number of incisions. The instrument can treat the deep tissue of the face without exposing it.

The areas best treated are the forehead, the neck, the area around the eyes and the cheekbones. The treated areas return to normal after three days.
