- The FDA has not approved any dermal fillers intended to increase breast or buttock size.
- All of the following complications have been reported with the use of silicone injections associated with breast and body enhancement: infections, chronic pain, silicone granuloma formation, permanent contour deformities, embolism, stroke, and death.
- If you are interested in surgical procedures for breast or buttock contouring, please seek consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Board-certified plastic surgeons are specialists who have been given certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. - If you have received silicone injections for breast or body enhancement and are experiencing such symptoms as pain, infection, scarring, or contour deformities, please seek medical care from a board-certified plastic or general surgeon.
- If you have received silicone injections for breast or body enhancement and are experiencing such symptoms as shortness of breath, dizziness, numbness/paralysis, difficulty speaking, or difficulty walking, please seek medical attention immediately. These signs and symptoms could indicate a life-threatening condition.
- If you believe you have been given silicone injections by an unlicensed medical provider, please report the provider to a local medical authority or the FDA.
- Before undergoing any treatment with dermal fillers, seek consultation with a licensed medical practitioner about appropriate treatments and potential risks with these procedures. We recommend seeking consultation with a board-certified physician in one of the following core specialties: plastic surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, or otolaryngology.
- Only receive injections with FDA-approved dermal fillers. Any licensed medical practitioner performing the injections should have adequate training and expertise in injecting the dermal filler.
